Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have punched above expectations with two wins under their belt. Their latest victory came against Mumbai Indians, thanks to a disciplined bowling effort. While their earlier win over Sunrisers is looking less impressive in hindsight, their ability to win without key performances from Nicholas Pooran is a big plus.
Aiden Markram and Mitch Marsh led the charge at the top, but there’s growing anticipation around Rishabh Pant, who is yet to make a major impact this season despite a hefty price tag. Their middle and lower order still feel fragile and could come under pressure against KKR’s in-form bowlers.
Eden Gardens has lived up to its reputation as a batting paradise this season, with more than half of the last 15 first-innings scores crossing the 200-mark. Despite attempts to slow the surface to aid spinners, it remains a track where stroke-making is rewarded.
KKR’s bowlers have managed to keep things relatively tight, conceding around 8.2 runs per over, while LSG have been far more expensive, going at over 10 runs per over. If KKR bat first, expect another big score.
